Takada Chuo Bowling Haikyo

Discovered this old Bowling alley haikyo in some side streets while taking a bike ride. Apparently it has been closed a few years now and it is starting to decay slowly.

Paint falling away.

A large piece of machinery which was once probably worth something.

Hanami

The sakura bloomed a little late in Joetsu this year. The festivities at Takada Park were toned down too after the recent events in Japan. But when they bloomed it was as expected.. awesome! I went out multiple times to enjoy something that is only around for a week before they fall to the ground. Here are some images taken over a span of 6-7 days.

Rainbow over Teramachi

Was having a relaxing bike ride on a sunny afternoon and it started to rain lightly. Was in the right place at the right time to catch this image. The sun was setting behind me and the rain clouds were moving from right to left.

Joetsu Photo Compitition

These are the 4 photos that I used to enter into the Joetsu Photo Competition under the category 'Story of 4 photos'. First time I have entered my photos into anything so I was surprised when I got the call that I had won an 1万 prize (Roughly AUD125) as 1 of 6 people in the top of their category. The prize money isn't great compared to the 'Overall Best Photo' award which is a ridiculous 50万 (roughly AUD6,250) but I'm more happy that I will be in the Spring Exibition held at Takada Castle and my photos will get more exposure around my city!
I also entered the 'Event' and 'Nature' categories too but no luck there as they are highly competitive categories.

It was also the first time I have printed out my photos and after seeing them blown up I have decided it would be cool to print a couple out and frame them for the walls of my new apartment.
The photos above are un-edited (apart from the watermark) as requirement of the compitition.

Snow on the Beach

Never have I seen such a crazy site. Snow on the beach! During August I swam here and over the last few weeks it has been blanketed in snow.

This is a gate leading from the car park to the boardwalk.

A drinking fountain and tape to clean sand and salt water from your feet after going for a swim.

Stone Faces in Winter

During winter Gochikokubunji is under metres of snow. The entire temple grounds are transformed and walking from one end to the other involves wading through waist deep snow. Here were the same statues in Summer.
